The Kearns Improvement District (KID) is seeking a System Operator and Facilities Maintenance worker. Duties

An example of the duties for the needed system operator are: Works with District staff installing, maintaining, and repairing water/sewer infrastructure piping and service connections, maintaining KID facilities, landscape, and irrigation systems.

  • Use a variety of power, air, hand tools, & other landscape equipment as needed.
  • Is involved in the demolition and repair of curb, gutter, and street improvements in the course of installing and repairing the district’s utilities.
  • Performs miscellaneous construction tasks including soil placement, compaction, and as needed concrete work.
  • Is trained in and involved with the maintenance of water booster pump stations, sewer lift stations, valving, meters, piping, pumps, and buildings.
  • After being trained, the operator will participate in the occasional “On-Call” emergency after-hour maintenance & repair responsibilities. Must be able to respond to calls within 20 minutes of emergency calls. 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides similar knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must obtain a Grade I State of Utah Water Distribution within twelve (12) months and Grade I Sewer Collection Operator Certifications within twelve (12) months of hire date. KID will provide training and preparation opportunities prior to testing.
  • Must complete OSHA Competent Person Training and confined space training within three (3) months of date in position.
