Upon Hire

As the Water/Storm Water Operator III, you will:

  • Maintain water treatment plant building and grounds, ensure proper level of chlorine is administered, and ensure safe operation and maintenance of chlorine tanks.
  • Maintain the city water system, pipes, valves, service laterals, and meters, to provide clean drinking water to the city.
  • Maintain pump houses, well house, and treatment facilities.
  • Clean storm water lines, inspect storm drains, inspect and clean storm drain basins, perform catch basin maintenance, oversee and perform storm water swell construction.
  • Perform routine SWPPP inspections of commercial and residential projects permitted under the Construction General Permit as a Registered Storm Water Inspector
  • Read residential and commercial water meters, perform field and shop meter repairs and testing.
  • Receive requests for digging authorization and marking on underground service lines, assume responsibility for Blue Stakes coordination, conduct analyst of locating request.
  • Participate in other related duties as needed, such as work zone safety procedures, setting up safety zones, assisting with annual spring clean-up, participate in snow removal and operating snowplows.  
Qualifications
  • Live within 20 miles of Woods Cross City and be willing to work on-call duty and 24-hour standby.
  • Be Grade IV Water Operator & Treatment Certified.
  • Be Utah LTAP Heavy Equipment Backhoe 1 and Excavator 1 & 2 certified or have qualified experience.
  • Become FEMA Emergency Management certified (IS 100, 200, 700, 800) within six (6) months.
  • Become confined space trained within three (3) months.
  • Become a certified flagman within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Become Backflow Admin certified within (12) months of hire.
  • Become a registered Storm Water Inspector within (6) months.
