The Best Water in America? It's in Utah
Utah is officially home to the best-tasting water in the United States.
The Bear River Water Conservancy District claimed the Gold Medal at the 26th Annual Great American Water Taste Test (GAWTT), the nation’s most prestigious competition for drinking water excellence. Held in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Rally, the contest brought together the best-tasting water systems from across the country—each one the winner of its own state competition.
This year’s GAWTT featured 43 entries from rural utilities nationwide. Preliminary judges narrowed the field to five finalists, whose water was then evaluated by a panel of distinguished experts, including a U.S. Senate policy analyst, a state attorney general’s office specialist, and an industry executive. Bear River’s water stood out for its exceptional clarity, purity, and clean, refreshing taste.
Established in 1988, Bear River Water Conservancy District serves six Utah utilities and has built a reputation for delivering high-quality water through sustainable, community-focused practices. Winning the national title is a testament not just to great water, but to the people behind it—operators, engineers, and local leaders dedicated to protecting public health and delivering excellence from source to tap.
This win is more than a medal. It’s a moment of pride for Utah and proof that when it comes to water, we lead the nation—one perfectly crisp sip at a time.
Quality you can taste—straight from the source.
