Full Job Description

The Risk Manager performs a variety of administrative duties related to planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing risk management, loss prevention, inspections, safety and other programs. Identifies exposures; appraises, analyzes and evaluates exposures to accidental, legal and regulatory losses through surveys, inspections, records and contract reviews. This position also serves as a technical resource to management for the administration of occupational safety, industrial hygiene and emergency preparedness.  Additionally, the Risk Manager assists management and employees to ensure compliance with all state and federal Safety Standards and establishes guidelines and procedures to reduce exposure to losses from safety violations and worker compensation claims in all facility departments.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1.    Graduation from high school, plus a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field.  Six (6) years experience performing safety-related duties in water or sewer maintenance, general maintenance, construction, treatment plant operations or related field.
2.    Education and work experience may be substituted for the other on a year-for-year basis. 
3.    Working knowledge of UOSH, OSHA, and related safety regulations
4.    OSHA 30 HR General Industry up to Certified Safety Professional. 
5.    Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, plus contractors, vendors and general public.. 
6.    Willingness to work extended or modified shifts if required and respond to emergencies and other diverse operational demands. 
7.    Possession of a valid Utah State Driver’s License.
8.    Must pass Utah Wastewater Operator certification withing 1 year.
